2025 Championship Golf Program

18 June 2025

The start of the 2025 AVGU Championship is just over two months away and entries have now closed.

Preparations for the event are in full swing. Work is about to start on draws for the 4BBB event and the three championship rounds. Tours for non golfing partners have been locked in, and Darwin is putting on some amazing Dry Season weather.

To stay in touch with everything in the run up to the event (and to see some spectacular photos of what is awaiting you), we strongly suggest that you follow us on Facebook (search for Northern Territory Veteran Golfers Association).

The programme for the 2025 Championship is as follows:

Sunday 31 August

Registration

Registration at the Darwin Golf Club from 11.00am to 3.00pm. If you can’t make it to Registration on Sunday, we will hold your registration kit for you to collect when you play your first round of golf (either the 4BBB event or Day One of the Championship).

Monday 1 September

4BBB

Tee off times for the 4BBB event will commence at the Darwin and Palmerston golf courses from 7.00am with a last tee off at 12.30pm. We have chosen not to use shotgun starts for this event to ensure that everyone has ample time to get to the Welcome Reception on Monday evening. Presentation of prizes for the 4BBB events will take place at the Welcome Reception.

Welcome Reception

A Welcome Reception will be held on the lawns of the Mindil Beach Casino overlooking the Arafura Sea. We suggest that you arrive around 6.30pm for a 7.00pm start. Finger food and some drinks will be provided. The event will conclude no later than 9.30pm.

Tuesday 2 September

Day 1

Day one of the AVGU Championship at the Darwin and Palmerston golf courses. There will be shotgun starts at 8.30am and 1.30pm at both courses. Prize presentations will take place at the end of each session.

Wednesday 3 September

Social Golf

While this is a rest day, you might want to consider 9 holes of golf and lunch at the iconic Humpty Doo Golf Club (call (08) 8988 1118  to book).

The Humpty Doo & Rural Area Golf Club is located just a short 30-minute drive down the track from Darwin – you will need your own transport to get there.

Mini Golf

On Wednesday evening  you may consider entering the mini golf competition at Palmerston Golf Club. Tee off times will commence at 5.30pm and nibbles will be provided. You can sign up for mini golf at Registration on Sunday 31 August.

Thursday 4 September

Day 2

Day two of the AVGU Championship at the Darwin and Palmerston golf courses. As for Day one of the championship, there will be shotgun starts at 8.30am and 1.30 pm at both courses and prize presentations will take place at the end of each session.

Friday 5 September

Day 3

Tee off times for the final round of the Championship will commence at the Darwin and Palmerston golf courses from 7.00am with a last tee off at 12.30pm. As with the 4BBB event, we have chosen not to use shotgun starts for this day’s play to ensure that everyone finishes golf in time to get to the Presentation Dinner on Friday evening. Presentation of daily prizes for round three of the Championship will take place at the Presentation Dinner.

Presentation Dinner

The Presentation Dinner will be held under the stars at the Darwin Sailing Club. The venue will open at 6.30pm for a 7.00pm start. A 3 course dinner and drinks will be provided. The event will conclude no later than 10.30 pm.

Further information regarding all of the above will be made available over the coming weeks. If you have any urgent queries, you can contact us by email at admin@avguchampionship2025.com.au
